Frequently asked questions

Where on my field is the best place for a sensor?

First of all, pick a spot where the weather station is not in your way. That way it can measure all year round. Also pay close attention to the surroundings: nearby buildings or trees must be avoided for an accurate measurement.

Placement of the weather station on the field

Can the rain gauge handle frost?

Absolutely! Because the precipitation is emptied immediately by the tipping mechanism, no water remains in the rain gauge itself. So there is no need to bring the gauge inside in winter; it can keep measuring all year round.

When does the weather station send its data?

Every 10 minutes the measurements are sent to our servers. We make sure the measurement appears in the app right away.

I have been irrigating, can this measurement be filtered out?

Irrigation water can end up in the collection funnel, making it look as if rain has fallen. This distorts the totals. We keep an eye on this ourselves and filter out this precipitation as much as possible, but the quickest way is to send us a quick message or email. Then we filter out the irrigation totals right away.

My rain gauge measures too little precipitation

First of all, we need to rule out that anything is clogged or blocked. Follow the steps in the inspection video under Service and maintenance.

In addition, due to differences in how the rain gauge is set up compared to your manual rain glass, differences of up to 20% of the total can occur. That says nothing about the quality of your rain glass; it is purely down to differences in placement around buildings and the height at which you measure.

Are the differences more than 20% and have you followed the steps in the video, but the problem is not solved? Contact us and we will take care of the solution.

Other tips

Connection

Always make sure the button on the weather station is pressed in, only then is the weather station switched on!

Monitoring

We always keep an eye on the measurements. So it may happen that we are already tracking down a problem before you have even noticed it. In that case we send you a notification through the app asking you to check the weather station. That way we prevent worse.

We detect most blockages of the rain gauge around harvest time. Leaves from trees or soil from the fields end up in the collection funnel due to wind and field work. A periodic check after field work, and especially before spring, never hurts, even if the measurements still look perfectly fine.

Replacing your AtmoExact batteries

Replacing your AtmoExact batteries

Most connection problems are caused by empty batteries. Request new batteries through the app or contact us. We will send you a new set free of charge. Follow the steps in the video to replace the batteries; in most cases that solves the problem. If not, read on below.

Problems with the rain gauge, even after cleaning it? Or are other sensors not working, even though you have already replaced the batteries? It happens. We will take care of the solution and send you a fresh AtmoExact.

This new weather station is already linked to your account. All you have to do is carry out the swap physically. Install the new one and send the old one back to us. We will make it as good as new again. Sustainable, too. For extra guidance, follow the steps in the video.

Swapping the AtmoExact weather station
